Founded in 2007 with just eight participants and four Frost undergraduate mentors, the mentorship program has now grown to include over 50 youth being mentored by 25 Frost students each Sunday.

Participants who have graduated from the program have received prestigious college scholarships, and two participants went on to be accepted into the Frost School of Music. Learn more.

Community partners for mentoring include the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, Young Musicians Unite, South Miami Senior High School, and Arthur, Miami Arts Studio, and Polly Mays Conservatory for the Arts.

2-1 Mentoring

The Shalala MusicReach's flagship program where 25 undergraduate Frost School of Music students mentor two community youths each, providing them with valuable musical skill development as well as positive guidance on life choices. Mentoring is currently available for classical and jazz during the University of Miami academic year. Mentoring spots are filled first by our community partners, then by recommendation by MDCPS school teachers.
